At approximately 16:30 UTC on 16 April 2025, a partial power outage occurred on KVM Rack 7. This incident affected 2 to 3 hypervisors within the rack, causing them to shut down unexpectedly due to a loss of power.
Impact:
2–3 hypervisors were powered down.
Virtual machines hosted on the affected hypervisors experienced downtime for approximately 20 minutes.
No data loss has been reported.
Resolution:
Power was fully restored by 16:50 UTC. All impacted systems were restarted and services resumed normal operation. The issue was traced to an anomaly with the rack’s power distribution unit (PDU), which has since been stabilized.
Next Steps:
Ongoing monitoring of Rack 7 power infrastructure.
A scheduled inspection and load test of the PDU and associated power feeds.
Coordination with datacenter staff for root cause analysis and long-term mitigation.
